A detailed commentary on the author's own experiences emigrating to Japan, with chapters on house hunting in Rikisha, whimseys of nature in Nippon, the ABC in Japanese, the calendar of flowers, a Japanese village, and gastronomical discoveries, amongst other features. Written by Theodate Geoffrey, the pseudonym of Dorothy Godfrey Wayman, an American journalist and author best known for her work in the Boston Globe. She notable began a correspondence with the youngest man ever given a life sentence in Massachusetts, William Roach, and write to him over many years. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light spotting to the first and last few pages. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown with the bookseller's label to the rear pastedown. Very Good. book.
