    Hardcover. Condition: g- to vg-. First edition. Folio. 336pp. [2]. Illustrated b/w dust jacket with black, white, and red lettering on the front cover and spine. Beige cloth boards with a small black illustration on the front cover, red lettering on the spine. Textured endpapers. A finely-produced survey of the political and socially conscious graphic art of Romania, commemorating the struggle for justice and independence, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries (1848-1961). Profusely illustrated throughout with 394 individual images, mostly in black and white, in the form of photographic reproductions after the original art, lithographs and tipped in plates. Images include posters, satirical political cartoons, paintings, drawings and woodcuts. Each images is titled, captioned and dated, with addition information on every image found in the extensive list at the back of the book. Text in Romanian. Dust jacket with some creasing, chipping and closed tears to extremities. Binding with some light rubbing, bumping and/or age toning to extremities. Some light water stains to the bottom edge of the book block. Interior with 12 of the tipped in plates missing (#1, 3, 13, 28, 40, 69, 90, 151, 163, 202, 276 and 373), as well as some minor age toning to the edges of some pages, and a few sporadic minor creases throughout. Dj in good-, binding and interior in very good- condition overall.
