The railroad was chartered December 15, 1879 and as of December 31, 1886 it had a total of 238.11 miles of trackage between Hagerstown, MD and Roanoke,… VA. Norfolk & Western Railroad owned a majority of its stock. The SVRR was placed into receivership on March 31, 1885. As of the date of this publication the railroad had 41 locomotives, 30 passenger cars, and 899 freight cars. This copy came from a N&W depot which was being closed and has never been read or opened. Light moisture to covers and a few of the pages, barely noticible. A very good copy. Book.
