Introduction by Corman, in which he comments "There is scarcely a child in Japan unfamiliar with Kusano's frogs. And of course, no adult."…Their trills, transcribed and fancifully translated by the poet into frog soliloquies, dirges, and celebrations are, says Corman, "figures of nature--in its largest sense--and of absolute innocence . . Corman was also a well known translator and published over 100 books of his own work. This scarce Tomas Transtromer book is also signed by Cid Corman on his small personalized bookplate on the opening flyleaf.
