8vo, first edition. 12 engraved folding plates, in half calf, raised bands, marbled boards, upper upper detached, fore-edge on the plate dusty, some old light dampstaining on prelims on few plates; general they are very good, Signed by the Author on the front free fly . (ho2.2). ~ The author was a major-general, colonel of the 2nd (Queen's) foot, and adjutant-general of the forces. He was in the military from the age of fourteen until the end of his life, and made these extensive revisions in 1822, which "were much in need of it, and he accomplished the task in a manner which gave general satisfaction, embodying the improvements which had been introduced and practiced by different commanders in recent wars." -(DNB).
