Black leather binding, gilt crests and edging to boards, gilt lettering and detail to spine, which has raised bands. Scuffing and wear to binding, extensively so to spine, rubbing at edges and on hinges, with bumped corners. Front board and endpaper detached, with endpaper taped to the board. Spine split horizontally a third of the way down and the bottom two thirds are detached at the front hinge end but still attached at rear. Aside from loose board, binding reasonably firm. Endpapers marbled. A little pencil marking and foxing to front endpapers and preliminaries.
