Timmis had been a pupil of horse tamer Savigear. No jacket, probably as issued. A weighty Edwardian encyclopedia, covering all non-sporting aspects of using, doctoring, and handling horses. Of special note for the several chapters on humane issues: "the cruelty of horse dealers," docking tails, bearing reins, anesthesia and humane destruction, and enlightened legislation. The photos of various breed representatives and working horses are especially interesting. (Wells 7593 cites the English edition) Shipping/handling may be extra; please keep this in mind when ordering. As is; priced accordingly. Fair (hinges exposed; a little shaken due to the book's weight. A little light penciling in the pharmacy section).
