Hardcover. Condition: Poor. 1st Edition. Blue cloth. 8vo. 362pp. Illustrated with 41 plates. History of this Connecticut regiment which was mustered into service on Aug. 25, 1862. It participated in the defense of Washington, D.C. before being transferred to Virginia. The 15th saw its first action at Fredericksburg in Dec. 1862 and also fought at Edington Road and Providence Church. It shipped to North Carolina in 1864 and spent time there on provost duty at New Berne. They were captured near Kinston in 1865 but paroled shortly after. The regiment was mustered out in July, 1865. This is a worn copy with some heavy rubbing and creasing to the spine and wear to the spine tips. The covers have some scuffing and corner wear. The text is worn near the front with some heavy foxing to the frontis portrait on both sides, a few creased page corners, some chipping to the upper left corner of the first few pages and some heavy chipping to the pages 15-16 at the right edge. The majority of the text is in good condition with some occasional foxing in the margins. This copy has been collated and is complete.
