Light tan cloth with light spotting to spine and boards; spine heel bumped with slight fraying along head. Foxing/toning to text block edges and several initial and rear leaves; occasional light foxing spots to interior pages which overall remain clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy in a very good- dust jacket. Pages 258-303 feature a facsimile of Jack Thorp's 1908 edition with the book's extensive text being general commentary and music for each song with sources for individual bibliographies, texts of variations, recording and manuscript lists, a cowboy word and phrase lexicon, etc.

Yellowing around the edges of the cover, the discoloration is heaviest on the spine. The cover has been laminated. Some of the lamination has been torn off of the front cover, exposing the linen cover beneath. The flaps of the dust jacket have been glued and taped to the half title page. Pages show reader wear. A few pages have light soiling. Several cracks in the spine throughout the book. A few of the cracks expose the netting. Pages still appear to be secure. Ex-library with the normal markings, stamps, and stickers. A library card pocket is glued to the inside of the back cover. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.
