Book signed by Dr. Elderdice inside front cover at New Salem Hotel in McKnightstown, PA in 1868. The Gettysburg Times of June 29, 1936 reported that Dr. Elderdice enlisted in the Union Army in October 1862 at the age of 17 in Carlisle, PA and attended the Gettysburg Address by President Lincoln on July 28, 1863.
