    Hardback. Condition: Good Plus. 1st Edition. Complete set: Volumes I, II and III plus the Supplemental Volume VI. Bound in two. Half green calf leathers binding with pebbled cloth boards. Spines with five raised bands, blind decoration, morocco title label. Red speckled page edges. Heavy fading to spines, a little light marking to boards. Excellent solid bindings with no cracking to joints. Foxing to text and plates, heavier to the first and last few pages. Water stain to the frontis in Volume I. Engraved title page followed by letterpress title page for each volume. Overall condition is Good Plus. Size: 9 x 11 inches (22.5 x 28 cm).

    Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. Complete five volume set. Recent half calf leather bindings with marbled boards. Spines have five raised bands, black leather title labels, red leather volume labels. Volumes IV and V have the volume numbers reversed on the spines, Volume V also has a duplicate Volume IV title page - the book's contents are otherwise correct. Good solid bindings, some foxing to the plates, slight marking to title pages, a few tears and some old repairs to fold-out plates. A very attractive set. Overall condition is Very Good. Quarter bound with blue morocco spine and marbled boards. Ornate gilt details to spine compartments, with general rubbing and scuffing to the bands and to the head and tail of the spine. Gutters and edges scuffed. Spine slightly sunned. Boards with wear to edges and to corners, with the latter worn and exposed. Binding firm. Gilt to upper face of page block, with the remaining faces rough cut. Previous seller's notes to reverse of ffep, in pencil, referring to the complete collation of the plates. Foxing to most of the plates, varying from heavy to light. Slight foxing to the text pages. Most tissue guards present. English and French title pages to volumes 1 and 3, only the French title page to volume 2. Each volume has a list of plates to the front and in each case, all the plates are present: usually two to a page. Volume 1: 73 plates. Volume 2: 72 plates (but lacking vignette that would have been on the English title page). Volume 3: 69 plates. Text: 76pp; 76pp; 76pp. Illustrations by Thomas Allom.
