Book condition: F - Fine. Full Colour illustrations. One of a series of "Collection d'Albums Historiques". Stunning album on the famous 17th century French statesman with full page and double page watercolour illustrations in chromolithograph in a magnificent embossed coloured binding with pages held by stubs to allow full spread of illustrations. The text is in the original French language. Original green pictorial cloth gilt, with a polychrome illustration on the upper board by J.Fau of Richelieu standing by a map, sword in hand, crown on a table by his side, his arms above, lettered in gilt, red and black, some wear at extremities. Gold blocked page edges. Many of the illustrations overlay the text, and the leaves are all mounted on linen guards. A rare and beautiful book. 84 pages, frontispiece, 40 chromolithograph illustrations including 36 full-page and 2 double-page plates. 84 pages. Size: 12" x 14" (305mm x 356mm). (2).
