Wilhelm Tappe (1769-1823) arbeitete als Baumeister und Architekt; die Lippische Fürstin Pauline hatte ihn zum Landbaumeister ernannt. Er untersuchte im lippischen Raum auch alte Grabhügel und erreichte, dass sie unter Schutz gestellt wurden. Von ihm gibt es auch einen Entwurf für ein Hermannsdenkmal (Quelle: Wikipedia). Aus der Anordnung der alten Grabhügel in der Gegend von Detmold und Paderborn leitete er die These ab, dass dort die Varusschlacht stattgefunden habe. - sehr selten!
