Condition: Fine. New York, April 29 and June 9, 1958., 1958. Fine. - Two typed letters signed by Martin Tahse on 11 inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide embossed "Maurice Evans Productions, Inc." stationery. Both are addressed to Buford Armitage at "The City Center of Music and Drama, Inc.". In his first letter, dated April 29, 1958, Martin Tahse writes to say that "Enclosed is the agreement between the Sergeants Company and the New York City Center which I trust you'll find acceptable." He goes on to ask that Buford Armitage execute the agreement in triplicate and suggests that "I think that will be all that is necessary for you to accept the scenery and properties for NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS." Signed in full. In his second letter, dated June 9, 1958, Tahse informs Buford Armitage that he has "been able to complete an inventory of the properties and scenery of NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS. These are the effects which we are turning over to the City Center." He mentions enclosing a copy of the inventory and concludes by writing that "It was certainly good news to learn that City Center will be able to present plays under the new tax ruling." Signed Martin. Retained copies of Buford Armitage's replies are stapled to Tahse's letters. Folded for mailing, else fine. The Broadway and television producer Martin Tahse (1930-2014) was general manager for Maurice Evans Productions for three years during which period he booked productions of "No Time for Sergeants" in theaters in 110 communities. He was also responsible for road productions of "Dark at the Top of the Stairs", "Two for the Seesaw", "Fiorello!", and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".
