All have dust jackets except volume 1. A complete set, including the Index and the two volumes of"Journal to Stella" published subsequently.

Maroon hardback with white lettering on spine, frontispiece, xl, 243 pp., 7 text illus., unclipped illustrated jacket. Minimal shelf wear, unmarked, tight binding. Jacket is age-toned with sunned spine and a few short strips of cellophane tape re-enforcements on inside panels. Preserved in a removable Brodart sleeve. Volume VIII contains Swift's most considered reflections on the events of 1710-1714 and their aftermath. Several of the pieces are printed from manuscripts in the collection of Lord Rothchild.

Dust jackets show moderate age toning overall, with light plus wear and shipping to top edges, and light wear to bottom edges especially near corners and tails of spines. Some have minor wear to inside flaps. Some dust jackets have been price clipped. Volume numbers have been handwritten in faded black ink on dust jacket spines. Boards fully bound in publisher's teal cloth, and have light wear to corners and bottom edges, with light plus bumping to tails of spines.
