Some splits at front and rear interior hinges, but binding remains intact. A previous owner name in pencil twice on the front pastedown and once in ink on the rear pastedown. Pages of text with some creases, but still bright. 76 pages. A small volume, measuring 5.75 inches tall.

The book is in Very Good+ condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some rubbing, bumping and edge wear. There are a couple of spots of ground-in dirt and one ink spot to the bottom edge of the front cover. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a penciled in previous owner's name and address. "George Mogridge (17 February 1787 2 November 1854) was a 19th century writer, poet and author of children's books and religious tracts. He is chiefly known by his pseudonym of Old Humphrey, under which name he published 46 works, but also used the pen-names "Jeremy Jaunt", "Ephraim Holding", "Peter Parley" and "Old Father Thames". He wrote approximately 200 published works, many of which are still in publication today, and at the time of his death it was estimated that over 15 million copies of his writings were in circulation. Dark brown cloth hardcover with blind stamped designs on the covers and gilt stamped title on the spine. Cloth chipped head and base of the spine. Corners are bumped. Heavy toning to front and rear end sheets. Light toning and light scattered foxing to the contents. Previous owner faint name written on the right front flyleaf. First published in London 1855.
