Add to basketCloth, 8vo, 24 cm, xxii, 133 pp. 685 entries plus 9 in Appendix. From the introduction: "This bibliography is the first attempt to compile information on American theatrical periodicals published from the time of the first such magazine, in 1798, to 1967. Altogether the bibliography lists some 685 periodicals published in 122 cities and 31 states, with locations of issues noted in 137 libraries in the United States and Canada and in the British Museum. As well as identifying the periodicals, the book attempts to indicate the location of the periodicals in specific libraries and the actual holdings in each library. For the eighty-five periodicals which could not be found in any library, the source is given for the belief that such a magazine was actually published.Arrangement of the bibliography is chronological by year of first publication and, within each year, alphabetical by title. As far as possible, each entry includes the original title, editor, place of publication, publisher and address, dates of the first and last issues, subsequent changes in title, frequency of publication, any necessary miscellaneous notes, and symbols for libraries where the periodical can be found." Very Good in slightly chipped and edgeworn dustwrapper.

Add to basketCloth, 8vo, xx, 843 pp. 6,852 entries. From the introduction: "Included in this bibliography of 6852 numbered entries are 1483 English tragedies, of which 103 are anonymous works, and the remaining 1380 represent plays by 769 authors. The entries are restricted to English printed tragedies written in England, Scotland, or Ireland, from the beginnings of formal tragedy in England, to the end of the Nineteenth Century, together with the various adaptations of each work. Adaptations of Shakespeare's tragedies are included. This bibliography does not include the following categories: 1) tragedies written by William Shakespeare, as the list of editions would run to over 4,000; 2) literal translations of a play from other languages; 3) translations of a play into other languages; 4) one act plays, unless by an author who has written full length tragedies; 5) Latin tragedies; 6) tragedies in manuscript form; 6) tragedies written after 1900. For each entry the following information is given: 1) the author; 2) the complete title of the play; 3) the imprint; 4) the major pagination; 5) the library symbols; 6) whatever notes or commentaries seem necessary. For those plays which are also to be found in one or more of the several hundred collections and anthologies of plays listed in this bibliography, the number of the collection is indicated each time." Short closed tears to head of spine, top edge dust-stained, otherwise Good.
