Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. First edition. 8vo, [v], x, [xi], 216pp. Beige cloth with red lettering in illustrated jacket. Very good book with large ownership bookplate to front pastedown and various newspaper clippings taped and laid in in the front and back of the book causing acid offsetting. Jacket fair with edge wear and chipping and loss at head and along front joint, the lower 1/4. This collection of selections from SMU's Southwest Review was the official souvenir book of the first Southwest Book Fair, November 8-10, 1945 held at the McFarlin Memorial Auditorium, Fondren Library, SMU. The former owner had several visiting authors sign the ffep, though oddly none of them were contributors to this volume. The signatures include: Munro Leaf (with a small smiley face doodle), Harlan Hatcher, Harnett T. Kane, Lyle Saxon, and Houston Peterson. Besides the newspaper clippings about the fair and its authors, also taped in the front is the official program from the fair (5p), printed in red and black with ferris wheel illustration on front cover, and is quite scarce. Overall an interesting and well loved memento of this historic Texas book event.
