A well used hardback bound in black cloth, damp staining to right hand side of front board and left hand side of rear board, Illustrated on the front board with a green and a red representation of lights, titles to front and spine in creamy yellow, 100 pages, followed by a fold-out chart, and fixed on the reverse side of the rear cover there is a revolving dial that helps in the navigation process. This is no longer entirely flat but it does still perform its task. The pages are bound on a spiral. One has to hope that the damp damage arose on land and not from being in peril on the high seas. Charts and sketched illustrations used to inform the seafarers of the customary protocols. Printed on the cusp of the second world war so it could have been a much needed skill. 9.75 x 7.75 inches approx.
