Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. A note on the endpaper in pencil states :Rare fine set of the large type 1797 edition, beautifully bound in contemporary tree calf in 10 volumes. Consists of 8 volumes of the Spectator and the 2 volumes of the Guardian. A matching set, all from 1797. The bindings are indeed attractive, full tree calf with gilt decorations to the covers and spines and a red leather label. Likely mid to late 19th C, they now show some rubbing and bumping to the spine ends. One of the 20 covers is detached, and a couple of others are a little loose but still affixed, although otherwise nice and tight. Some occasional foxing to the endpapers, but generally the text is bright and clean throughout. Obviously printed on quality paper that has held up well. Domestic postage only 15 to 20 pounds.
