Soper was a field naturalist (see collector of specimens) for the National Museum of Canada between 1923 and 1931. The watercolour paintings in this 87 page book were his recollections as seen in the 1970s. Journey to Pangnirtung Fiord, Cumberland Sound, Cape Alberta, Kingnait Pass, and Burwash Bay. Soper's original quest was for the nesting grounds of the blue goose - unknown in 1923 - so you will see them in illustration as well as Barren Grounds Caribou, Great Snowy Owl and Atlantic Walrus. Maps assist text. Cond : Boards are black with gilt lettering - spine only. End-papers are charcoal grey. D.J. is black with white lettering. D.J. graphic is of three blue geese as painted in 1974. D.J. has light abrasion on back panel but minimal wear. Volume is clean and bright, no names. Collectible Arctic reference.
