He helped to set up Queen Anne's Bounty, restored Southwell Minster, laid out the grounds at Bishopthorpe Palace and may have been instrumental in stopping Jonathan Swift from becoming bishop of Hereford. No 25 in the York Minster Historical Tracts series.
