Add to basketpaperback. Condition: Very Good. Publication: Aylesford, Kent, St Albert's Press, 1961 Formatting: 8vo, pp. 39. Condition Report: Very Good. Bound in the publisher's original stiff cream wrappers. The binding remains tight and structurally sound, with an uncreased spine. The delicate paper wrappers exhibit uniform, mild age-toning and light dust-soiling typical of this fragile stock, along with a very faint, minor crease to the top corner of the front cover and a tiny, isolated dark blemish near the bottom edge of the rear wrap. Crucially, the internal pages are exceptionally crisp, bright, and completely free of foxing, marks, or previous ownership inscriptions, presenting a highly clean and well-preserved text block. Catalogue Note: First Edition, limited to an overall run of 450 copies, of which 400 were offered for sale. This specific copy is hand-numbered 260 on the limitation page. It was printed for The Aylesford Review by the John Roberts Press Ltd. The collection features essays on prominent and controversial literary figures of the era, including Frederick Baron Corvo (Fr. Rolfe), John Gray, Andrà Raffalovich, Ronald Firbank, and Henry Williamson. Contributors to the volume include John Gawsworth, Alexandra Wigginton, David Duck, The Lady Margaret Sackville, and Dom Silvester Houà dard O.S.B., along with a contribution by Gabriel Fielding. Most significantly, this volume marks the first-ever publication of Fr. Rolfeâs own work, A Theological Fragment. Given the small printing limitation of 450 copies, surviving examples in clean, internally unfoxed condition have become increasingly scarce on the open market. A fascinating and uncommon miscellany of essays exploring the eccentric and the esoteric within early 20th-century literature. Centred primarily on the infamous Frederick Rolfe (better known as Baron Corvo) and his contemporariesâ"including John Gray, Ronald Firbank, and Andrà Raffalovichâ"this collection offers intimate, scholarly portraits of key decadent and Catholic literary figures. Highly desirable for collectors of Corvine ephemera, this volume notably features the first published appearance of Fr. Rolfeâs own A Theological Fragment, making it a vital addition to any library of the English decadent movement. N/A (illustrator).…
