Pictorial jacket showing Awol the dobermann pinscher with various Australian animals including kangaroos, wild cattle, dingoes and a koala. Some edge wear creasing and loss to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners rubbed and bruised, some lean, not price clipped (9/6), no inscriptions, internally clean and tight, overall a vg copy of a scarce classic, 192pp. Bertrand Leslie Shurtleff (1897-1967,) was an American football offensive lineman who spent three seasons in the National Football League with the Providence Steam Rollers and the Boston Bulldogs, after playing for Brown University. Later he was a professional wrestler, teacher, public speaker and author. 'Awol at Large' was the third of his 'Awol' books about the ex US army K9. This is the adventures of Awol in Australia after he is accidentally left behind in quarantine, and his efforts to find his owners in the Australian bush.
