Condition: Very Good. "The 1115th Engineer Combat Group was organized in 1942, with the 82nd Engineer Combat Battalion as its nucleus. Five other units comprised the group for most of its operations through the European Theater of War. Their campaign is outlined in extensive detail across this six-sheet publication. Apart from crediting the units comprising the combat group, the title page (a modern reprint) is an extensive list of its achievements. The 1115th constructed nearly two miles of bridges; each of which is listed individually with its length, date, and contributing units. These ranged in size from a four-foot ditch cover to a massive 1000' floating pontoon bridge. The chart also shows the emblems of " organizations supported by the 1115th Engineer Combat Group," centered on the XIX Corps. A legend is also provided, which gives context to the subsequent five-sheet map outlining the movements of the unit across the English Channel, through France, and into Germany. Each bridge referenced on the title page is numbered on the map, which also shows the locations of various unit headquarters and independent actions that took place throughout the campaign. Simple illustrations scattered across each map commemorate the good memories, and the bad - animal corpses, French women, V-2 bombs, and several references to alcohol are a few telling examples. The images were drawn by Sgt. John A Le Donne and approved for publication by Major F. J. Hutta.
