Some b&w photos…and illustrations throughout the text. Published in an edition of 600 copies, and quite scarce. Near Fine in clean bright wrappers. Binding is square and tight. Adolf Busch (1891-1952) was a German-Swiss violinist, composer and conductor. He was the founder of several chamber orchestras both in Germany and Switzerland. After World War I, he founded the Busch Quartet, which was in existence with varying personnel until 1951 and included Rudolf Serkin. In 1939 when the Nazis began their rise to power, he then emigrated to the United States.

Der deutsche Violinist und Komponist (1891-1952) Adolf Busch war der Bruder de…s Dirigenten Fritz B. und des Cellisten Hermann B. Er gründete Anfang der 1920er-Jahre in Berlin das weltberühmte Busch-Quartett und trat mit Rudolf Serkin als Duo auf. 1927-39 lebte und arbeitete er in Basel. Nach der NS-Machtübernahme trat er bis 1949 nicht mehr in Deutschland auf. Als die Nazis versuchten ihn zur Rückkehr nach Deutschland zu bewegen, sagte er, dass er mit Freuden an dem Tag zurückkehren werde, da Hitler, Goebbels und Göring öffentlich gehängt würden. 1939 emigrierte er in USA, wo er mit Bruder Hermann und Serkin, der 1935 seine Tochter geheiratet hatte, das Busch-Serkin-Trio gründete.
