Ink inscription to the title page, dated September 1943. In collaboration with the journalist Keith Ayling, Lieutenant M. T. Wordell and Lieutenant E. N. Seiler give a thrilling first-hand account of serving in the Grumman "Wildcat" fighter squadron during the invasion of French North Africa in the Second World War. This invasion, known as 'Operation Torch', prompted the first large-scale airborne assault carried out by the United States. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart except for the odd spot to the upper extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper remains generally bright except for a little sunning to the spine. Chipping to the head and tail of the spine of the wrap and to the folds. Near Fine.
