Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Hi. Welcome to our small, family-owned bookstore. Famed recollections of the early days of the Army Air Force in WWII, copyright 1943 by the author, Colonel Robert L. Scott, Jr., who served as Group Commander under General Claire Chennault in the Pacific War. With a Foreword by General Chennault. Published 1944 by Blue Ribbon Books. Hardcover. The dust jacket is missing. The condition is Acceptable (after all, it's been through the war). The covers are all there, just scuffed quite a bit, but the airplane silhouette embossed on the front cover is still clear, and the title readable. A lot of wear on the edges. The deep red of the cover has faded on the back strip, and there is staining, but the title and author name on the upper half is legible. Both sides of the top of the backstrip have tears (3/4" in the back and in the front, 1/2", but also the strip has a tear--not immediately visible--almost 2/3 its length, separating it from the binding. The pages may be slightly tanned, but that may be the original color of the paper. That is all the bad news. The pages are all intact, including the area maps inside front and back covers, entirely readable. The binding is well-used but still complete. The story is amazing. 277 pages. Packaged using bubble wrap and a sturdy cardboard box. Tracking number provided for no extra cost. Thanks for checking out this book from our small town brick-and-mortar and supporting a small business.
