First U.K. Edition. Quarto (25cm); original pictorial pulp wrappers; 144pp; illus. Light wear to extremities, some trivial dust-soil to wrappers, a few tiny tears to the yapped edges, with a few small nicks and closed tears to spine, costing most of the printed date; still a bright, tight, and straight copy, unrepaired, with the… pages still creamy and supple, and the cover unmarred; Very Good+. A well-preserved copy of this issue, featuring Part 2 (of 5) of The Maltese Falcon. A loaded issue besides, with Carroll John Daly's Race Williams novelette The Silver Eagle, Erle Stanley Gardner's Ed Jenkins novelette Straight From the Shoulder, Horace McCoy's story "Hell's Stepsons," and Raoul Whitfield's "Sal the Dude," with additional contributions by C.S. Montayne, Tom Curry, Hartley H. Helper, and George B. Jenkins, Jr. Higher grade copies of all five parts of Maltese Falcon have become increasingly uncommon. Layman C109; Hagemann 626, 974, 1114, 1494, 2421.
