Schinz, Salomon (1734 Zürich - 1784 ebd.) Schweizer Arzt und Fachschriftsteller, praktizierte in Zürich, 1762-71 im Krankenhaus an der Spanweid und ab 1771 im Waisenhaus tätig. Ab 1771 Grossrat. 1778-84 Prof. der Physik und Mathematik am Carolinum und Chorherr, 1759-78 Sekr. der physikal.-ökonom. Gesellschaft Zürich. Autor verschiedener medizin., botan. und naturwiss. Schriften, z.B. der "Anleitung zu der Pflanzenkenntniss und derselben nützl. Anwendung" (1774), sowie der Beschreibung einer "Reise auf den Uetliberg" (1775, Neuausgabe 1978).
