Vier Jahre nach »Kinder der verlorenen Gesellschaft«: Der neue Gedichtband von Safiye Can. »Windlicht für dunkle Tage«, so heißt ein Kapitel in Safiye Cans neuem Gedichtband - ein Bild dafür, was diese Gedichte sind, was Lyrik sein kann. Wörtlich verstanden ist die Pandemie zunächst etwas, das die gesamte Weltbevölkerung betrifft, und in diesem offenen Sinne möchte auch der Titel dieses Bandes gelesen werden. Diesen Versen geht es nämlich um unterschiedliche Pandemien, von denen die Welt befallen ist und schwere Krankheitsverläufe aufzeigt: Diskriminierung, Rassismus, Benachteiligung von Frauen, aber auch Covid-19 und die Liebe. Safiye Cans Gedichte fragen danach, was diese Pandemien mit uns machen, sie spüren dem nach, was diese uns vor Augen führen - oder führen sollten. Ob in Collagen, Formen konkreter und visueller Poesie, im Langgedicht oder in konventioneller Gestalt: Getragen wird diese Lyrik von Rhythmik und Klang, von unerwarteten Wendungen und Bildern. Das mitunter Schmerzliche, das in ihr zum Ausdruck kommt, wird so in einen einnehmenden musikalischen Ton überführt.
