An important work of Arab historiography by Amir Ibn Muhammad Ru'âmi, the Yemenite Secretary of State at the time of the Ottoman invasion, drawing upon his personal experiences as he led diplomatic negotiations with Ottoman leaders, particularly with Hasan Pasha, during the years from 988 to 993 (1580-85 CE). Hasan Pasha is considered one of the most successful Ottoman governors of Yemen. He managed to bring Yemen back under Ottoman control and maintain peace against insurgent local rulers during his 24-year rule (1580-1604). - Edited by the Leiden theologian and oriental scholar Anton Rutgers (1805-84), hailed as the founder of Sanskrit studies in the Netherlands.
