hardcover. 1978 rep. 375pp, folding map, VG in VG dw. William Speirs Bruce flatly declined to write a narrative about the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition maintaining that the expedition was purely a scientific enterprise and he focused on the scientific reporting. Sadly a general book on the Scottish expedition would have helped him a great deal in obtaining recognition for his work. Instead the authorship of a popular narrative was taken up by three of the scientific staff who wrote this outstanding account. The primary account of The Scottish National Antarctic Expedition to the South Atlantic and Weddell Sea area. Uncommon even as a reprint. Glacier Books are experienced and professional booksellers. We take pride in offering carefully described books and excellent customer service.
