Stapled softcover booklet. Condition: Very Good. Color plates of a number of Geiser's abstract paintings/mixed media artworks. The works include geometric configurations made with oil leaf wax, oil leaf wax varnish, and oil varnish pitch on board. Drawing on sources from Paleolithic art to the industrial landscape, Geiser's paintings convey a sense of process and tactile involvement. Booklet has slight darkening to edges, else nice. Geiser, 1948-2020, was an American abstract expressionist painter and the creator of underground comix in the 1970s. He was born in Rochester and moved to San Francisco in 1969, working with other artists such as S. Clay Wilson and Grey Arlington, the founder of the San Fransisco Comic Book Company. These subversive comics were commentaries on the drug-influenced counterculture of the 1960s, with names like Uncle Sham, Honky Tonk, and Demented Pervert. His works, centered on sex, drugs, and rock & roll, were self-published or distributed by alternative presses to avoid any censorship or restrictions.
