Date is 1888. The book has two parts "How to Prepare for the Holy Communion" by Rev. C.J. Ridgeway (15 pages), and How to Give Thanks after Holy Communion" by same author (16 pages). Maroon binding with ornate delicate gilt decoration & titles to front, plain spine, some blanching/lightening to rear. Slight wear to edges, light wear to spine-ends & boards' corners. Ink inscription to printed end-papers dated 1889. Red page-edges, red border to page-margins. Text is very clean. Nice condition.

Upper hinge exposed, endpapers browned, prize plate of Midland Educational Co. to recto of FFEP . The sole edition, preserved in the original early pictorial dustwrapper - atypically concealing richly coloured pictorial boards - of the third series of scripture stories for boys by Church of England clergyman Charles John Ridgeway (1841-1927).
