Add to basketCondition: Very good. Format is approximately 7.5 inches by 4.25 inches. The authorized gold stamp replica preserved in this cover is produced under a non-exclusive licensing agreement with the United States Postal Service. Stamp design is the copyright of the U.S. Postal Service. Cover design is the copyright of the Postal Comm…emorative Society. These statement are on the back of the envelop, along with a Celebrating the Century design and the U.S. Postal Service logo and statement that this is an Official Licensed Product. The front of the cover has a First Day of Issue cancelation of the President Theodore Roosevelt 32 cent stamp and a Celebrate the Century imprint below the stamp. On the left side there is a golden depiction of part of the Seal of the United States above a framed presentation of a golden version of the U.S. Postal Service stamp. This golden version is on a stiff card within the envelop. A portion of the front of the envelop is open so that the golden stamp is visible. There is also a stiff card associated with this First Day of Issue cover as part of the Celebrate the Century series. This has text on only one side which has information about the stamp, but mostly has summary information on President Theodore Roosevelt. PCS was founded as the Postal Commemorative Society in 1970, thanks to the success of the Moon Landing First Day Cover. Since then, PCS has offered a wide variety of First Day Covers and mint-condition stamps to customers. Collecting is a basic human instinct. Reasons for collecting include pride of ownership, increasing one's knowledge (learning through the stunning designs and artwork), personal pleasure, and the feeling of achievement upon completing a collection, knowing you are one of a small fraction of Americans who can make that claim. Celebrate the Century is the name of a series of postage stamps made by the United States Postal Service featuring images recalling various important events in the 20th century in the United States. Ten of these sheets were issued, with each sheet depicting events of one decade of the 20th century, from the 1900s to 1990s. Fifteen stamps were embedded into each sheet. For the first eight sheets (1900s to 1970s) of the fifteen stamps, one stamp of each sheet was printed using the intaglio process, while the remaining fourteen were offset printed along with the rest of the sheet. All the sheets were printed by the Ashton-Potter USA printing company. The stamp images for the first five sheets were selected by Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee and those for the remaining five sheets were selected by a nationwide poll. As noted above, the Postal Commemorative Society produced under a non-exclusive license First Day Covers that also included a golden replica of the issued stamp. Envelope--First Day of Issue Cover with associated text Presumed First Edition, First issue thus. Richard Waldrep--stamp illustrator (illustrator).

Paperback. Condition: New. Slavoj Zizek is widely regarded as one of the world's most important contemporary thinkers. His work has contributed dramatically to the reinvention and revivification of many key theoretical and political debates. Indeed, his vociferous and challenging body of work amounts to a sustained, ground-break…ing, terrain-shifting and far reaching intervention into a large number of academic disciplines, intellectual fields and cultural debates. "The Truth of Zizek" addresses the rigorous critical assessment demanded by this broad and increasingly influential corpus. This timely and compelling collection of essays from an international team of leading Zizekian scholars addresses the full range of Zizek's theoretical interventions, assessing critically the political, philosophical, psychoanalytical, cultural and institutional stakes of his work. Each chapter engages with and challenges Zizek's thought to explicate a key aspect of his work, clarifying its importance and challenging its claims through rigorous critique.By focusing on Zizek's contributions to these disciplines, fields and debates, this collection sets out to diagnose and assess the emergence of a 'Zizekian moment' within contemporary intellectual, cultural and political events. "The Truth of Zizek" provides the first sustained engagement with and assessment of the significant impact of Zizek's work. This compelling and valuable collection of essays from cutting edge scholars picks up the gauntlet thrown down by Zizek: the demand that his readers respond with 'the coldness and cruelty of true friendship.
