Publisher's decorative cloth-covered boards worn and faded; inner hinges cracked, endpapers age-toned, old stamp (now erased and illegible) at title page, scattered pencil markings to contents, pages 225 230, 1-2 loosely laid in, folding maps and plans very good. Beneath the rear endpaper is a pocket, now empty, the original contents of which are revealed neither in the table of contents nor in the introduction. 220 grams.

(4) + 237 + (1) + 6, complete with folding map showing steamship and railway routes (bound in facing the title page, and not in a pocket at the back as advertised in some copies), and 27 illustrations some in text and some full page mostly from sketches by CWJ Praetorius. The section on Monte Carlo includes a full-page plan of a roulette table. Covers very good with some spotting and wear to extremities. Pages fine, lightly tanned. Map very good, slightly mis-folded with minor creasing along part of bottom edge where it protrudes from textblock. This guide covers the Riviera, southern Spain, North Africa, the Mediterranean Islands, and southern Italy and Sicily. Reynolds-Ball (1858-1928) also authored descriptive works on Cairo, the Nile, India, and Paris.
