The binding is quite worn, and there is a large tear and chip near the headcap of the spine, just above the title. The binding is bumped. The inner hinges are secure. There is some damping or discoloration on…the fore edge of the text block, affecting only a thin outer margin of the interior. The text is toned but generally clean. Illustrated with 137 text drawings (the title page lists 300 illustrations; apparently the other illustrations were in the other volume). Laid in loosely is a small loose advertisement for "Granular Effervescent Sodium Phosphate" with three horizontal folds. It is printed on the front and with three short paragraphs at the top of the reverse and is printed in 11 different languages, including Yiddish.
