This little book consists of 205 pages with a 38 page introduction which covers the history of the play and the history of its characters. Following the play, there is a chapter on the Funeral of Caesar taken from Merivale's History of the Romans under the Empire which covers many aspects of Caesar. Following this is a chapter of critical notes, scene by scene. The book is in very nice condition despite it's age. The pages have a very few notations in pencil and are otherwise free of marks and tears. There is a last name on the fly leaf. The brown cloth cover, stamped in black on the front and gold on the spine, shows minimal wear with very slight scuffing at the corners. The binding is tight.

This is followed by the play and critical notes which go scene by scene. The condition is very good with pages that are free of marks and tears. There is a last name written on the fly leaf. The binding is very tight. The brown cloth cover, stamped in black on the front and gold on the spine, has a wet stain on the right upper corner of both front and back and the outside edges of the pages. The corners show very minimal wear for the age of the book.

Condition: Fair. full 20 volume set from 1894, harvard edition. ex library copies. all of the volumes have quite significant edge wear, especially on the top spine edge and a little less (but still minorly signicant) on the bottom spine edge. corner wear as well. all but vol ii, vi, ix, xiii, xvii have an old price sticker on the top left corner of the front cover. almost every cover has some decent wear/scratches. each spine has a white lettered old library code towards the lower half. each inside cover has a book plate from the previous owner, as well as a withdrawn stamp on it. seal on the title page as well as some other stamps/writings (on each volume). library card with withdrawn stamp on the back inside cover. stamps on some of the bottom edges of the volumes. aside from that, still readable, pages are in remarkably good shape for their age, and page edges (aside from the stamped ones) are quite clean. on top shelf over shakespeare section - rw.
