Front board is MISSING, rear outer hinge cracked but holding, dark binding, gilt titles & simple cross-lining to spine, binding to print block is pulling away up to page 49, remainder looks tight apart from centre strain, slight foxing to preliminaries, ink name to title-page dated (18)52, Page-edges darkened with age, text has one or two small blotches but is generally very clean. NEEDS REPAIR or careful reading copy.

Featuring a selection of papers from the author and essayist Joseph Addison, taken from the Spectator and Guardian publications. This collection of work are aimed at young people, and include themes which includes cheerfulness, dreams, self-knowledge, love and marriage and drunkeness among many others. Rebacked, in a full calf binding. Externally generally smart. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, with patches of rubbing to the extremities of the boards. Light offsetting the front and rear pastedowns. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with light spots to the odd page. Very Good. book.
