Doane was bishop for the Episcopal Church in New Jersey from 1832 until his death. This volume is adorned with notes by Doane in addition to the memoranda. This is a scarce collection of sermons, and the British edition which was printed the year after the original American publication. Rev. Benjamin Davis Winslow was an assistant to the rector of St Mary's Church, Burlington, New Jersey. In a full morocco binding with gilt stamping to the spine. Externally, smart with some light rubbing to the raised bands and boards. Gift inscription to the recto of front endpaper dated 1845. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are age toned to edges with instances of light scattered spots throughout. Very Good. book.
