Rand was the pen-name of Bernard George Attenborough, (1912-1982) born in Moseley, Birmingham, England. He was educated at the University of Birmingham and subsequently became a journalist in Fleet Street, working as a contract writer for the News Chronicle and Sunday Times. His first novel. The Stake, was a thriller set in Spain. His next novel and probably his best known work, Run for The Trees, has been described as "probably the finest book ever written about white hunters in the African bush", and his third novel, Viva Ramirez, involved trips to South America to research "calling" jaguars. This book, his fourth and last one, returns to a setting in Africa. This book, 349 pages, is in near fine condition in a near fine dust jacket, now in a protective mylar wrap.
