Illustrations include a Bari fetish, Madi men, sketch maps of the Nile Valley and the stations of the Equatorial Provinces, a view of Lado, a Provinces warrior, facsimiles of parts of a letter from Gordon and from Emin, the seal of Baroud Bay, or Prout Bay, and portraits of General Gordon and Emin.
