First Edition. pp1-56A adverts, 214pp, pp57-104 adverts, photogravure portrait of Queen Victoria, with tissue, and 43 black & white illustrations by various artists, including Sir Edmund Burne Jones, Sir Frederick Leighton and Gustave Dore, includes a history of Crathie parish church and an account of the laying of a foundation stone for a new church by Queen Victoria on September 11th 1893, and a title page with the title "Book of the Bazaar, September 4th and 5th 1894", articles and poems by various authors, including the Marquis of Lorne, The Duchess of Sutherland, Jerome K Jerome and Rudyard Kipling, free endpapers tanned, original gilt-decorated green cloth with bevelled edges, gilt spine lettering and lettering to upper board, top edge gilt, other edges uncut, binding a little loose with weak front joint, otherwise a very good copy. Features 105 pp. of full-page, wonderfully graphic bw advertisements divided between front and rear of book. A substantial, heavy volume. Free of marks. Brown cloth boards with gilt decorations and titles. Spine also decorated. Backstrip worn, and pulling away for 4" at head. Corners curled. Hinge break at several places throughout, where signature strings show, although volume remains structurally sound. Pages are clean and quite bright, free of foxing, due to the high quality paper.
