Unframed Print. Condition: Very Good. This 1747 engraving depicts carved reliefs found on the staircases of Persepolis, the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire in modern-day Iran. These reliefs showcase processions of dignitaries, soldiers, and tribute-bearers, reflecting the empire's vast reach and cultural diversity. The Apadana Staircase, in particular, features figures from 23 different nations, each presenting offerings to the Persian king, symbolizing unity and imperial power.
