Bright, clean & tight hardcover booklet (46pp) accompanies 4-CD audio compilation (122 poems) in jewel cases, all gently used in FINE+ condition, not boxed. CD1: Walt Whitman recites "America," recorded on wax cylinder by Thomas Edison circa 1890, ends w/Auden's "In Memory of W.B. Yeats" (Part 1). CD2: features Theodore Roethke, Muriel Rukeyser, Richard Wilbur, John Ashbery, and Allen Ginsberg reciting his "America". CD3: starts with W.S. Merwin, then Gary Snyder, Sylvia Plath, Amiri Baraka, Leonard Cohen & Mark Strand. CD4: features Charles Simic, Al Young, Anne Waldman, Sharon Olds, Joy Harjo, Carolyn Forche & Li-Young Lee. In all, 80 poets, 122 poems, many of the major voices. Booklet has extensive source citations, three general essays, glossary of poetic terms in the margins, very artfully presented, but the recordings are the main pleasures. Pristine though unboxed set is likely hard-to-find & collectible.
