There are illustrations on almost every page. In a very attractive contemporary binding of crushed ox blood morocco with triple gilt fillet round edges of board…s, and an acorn decoration in each corner. Spine in six compartments, richly gilt, repeating acorn motif. Chevron inner dentelles, all edges gilt. Neat ownership inscription 'F H Cornewall, Milan October 1816'. Generous margins (page height is 9 1/8 inches). Wear to head of spine, else a very tight, clean copy. One of the most beautiful examples of 18th century book production and illustration, here presented in a binding worthy of its contents. A second volume, not present here, was published in 1737.
