Condition: Collectible-Very Good. 6 volumes (complete), illustrations, many in color, green cloth with gilt titles, 11 x 8.5" Very good overall, the mammals volumes show some use, one plate in v.4 is loose, front hinge of v.6 weak. More attention is given here to habits and characteristics of the birds and animals tha…n in previous scientific works. Pages are clean but some have slight edge wear. Covers have slight wear to extremities and bindings feel slightly shaken but are still strong and holding. Hinges and joints of the other volumes are similar to Vol. VI in that they feel somewhat loosened but they are still holding. Stain (about 1" x 2") on back of Vol. I. Vol. IV has what appears to be faint pencil or pen scribbles on front. The loose plate in Vol. IV is a black-and-white circular diagram naming the different scientific classifications of mammals and is laid in. Each volume of this set is Very Good.

The detail for each bird both in the text and in the illustrations is extraordinary and the references to the available scholarship are clear. Three books in one. This copy is in excellent condition.
