Hardcover. First Edition. On the half title the editor has inscribed his name as "by Logan Pearsall Smith". Limited edition of 300 copies. Cloth spine with paper title label protected by some glassine that has now mostly chipped away. Some brown staining has affected the top cm of all pages either side of the spine. There is browning to both free end papers and the paper covered boards. There is slight fraying to the top of spine and slightly to the top edge of the boards near there. Loosely inserted is a letter on 'Travellers' Club' headed paper dated 1953, gifting the book to a Miss Howard explaining that the signature is Pearsall Smith's. Overall very good. Acquired from Maud Lloyd, an admired leading dancer with Ballet Rambert in the 1930s. Later she wrote, with her husband, Nigel Gosling, influential dance books and reviews under the pseudonym, 'Alexander Bland'. When Rudolph Nureyev defected in 1961, they became his surrogate parents.…
