Darryl Wheye color illus (illustrator). 200 years the U.S. and Canada were home to 5 million people and more than 650 bird species; now there are 280 million people and 33 bird species are extinct and over 150 in danger. The drawings make the birds come alive. To document the declining numbers inumerable and often conflicting reports of biologists, federal agencies, and vested interest are sifted through. Slight edge wear.
